Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation Promotes Road Safety With Grant to Cruisin’ Not Boozin’ Program
Steven Burns, manager of Enterprise's Wayne branch, requested the grant because of his personal involvement with the Cruisin' Not Boozin' Program and its commitment to educating young people and adults about the potential hazards of mixing alcohol or drugs and driving. "The mission of the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation is to strengthen the thousands of communities where our employees and our customers work and live through charitable support of deserving programs," Burns said. The Cruisin' Not Boozin' Program was launched in 1989 to reduce the incidence of injury and death among teens and young adults by bringing them face-to-face with possible consequences of driving impaired. Its speakers' bureau includes individuals who survived alcohol or drug-related car crashes but were left with severe, life-altering conditions such as brain and spinal cord injuries. Especially relevant during spring prom season, the presentations persuade teens as no parent or teacher can that impulsive choices about drinking and driving, or riding with someone who is impaired, could impact the rest of their lives. More than 300,000 teens and young adults have heard these powerful presentations over the years. For more information about the program or to schedule a school presentation, please contact Carole Flounders at (610) 251-5465 or visit www.mainlinehealth.org/CnB. ### Note to Editors: Electronic photo available upon request.
