Thornton / Dickinson Golf Outing

The Hospice and Home Care Foundation received a donation of $10,000 from a group of Vanguard employees who held a golf event in memory of their co-worker, Linda Schalin. The money was raised from the Thornton / Dickinson Golf Outing, held Saturday May 17th 2008 at the Reading Country Club. Linda Schalin’s parents requested that all money be donated to Hospice and Palliative Care Program, Jefferson Health System in appreciation of the care and support their family received during Linda's illness. The money will be used to help hospice patients obtain services they could not otherwise afford, such as transportation to medical appointments, medical supplies and home safety equipment, additional home health aide support, medication assistance and short-term crisis support.

Denise and Liz were two members of the Hospice interdisciplinary team that provided care to Linda and her family. The Hospice interdisciplinary team is comprised of the patient's physician, hospice nurse, social worker, chaplain, home health aide, and volunteers.

We are grateful for all who participated directly in the golf event as well as those businesses who supported the outing.
