The Children's Bereavement Program supports children and young adults during one of the most vulnerable times in their lives- as they cope with the death of someone they love. The program encourages children and young adults to ask questions and talk about the person who has died in a safe and comfortable environment. It helps them work through the grieving process at their own pace and in their own way.
The program draws on the resources of the Hospice and Palliative Care Program of the Jefferson Health System. It offers care to our hospice families as well as providing resources to families in our community.
Services
Individual Counseling
We offer counseling before or after the death of a loved one. Support is tailored to the specific needs of each child with developmentally appropriate activities for children and young adults, ages 3 through 25. Individual sessions are by appointment and can be provided in the home or in our office. We are proud to offer Kimberly's Korner, a room dedicated to providing a safe space for children to grieve. Kimberly's Korner was inspired by a generous donation from a loyal and dedicated Hospice supporter in memory of Kimberly McClane.
Community Outreach and Education
Our Children's Bereavement Program provides children access to community resources and educational materials to assist their journey through the grieving process.
