When Nancy John’s husband, Dick, became terminally ill, both of them agreed that they wanted him to be at home. For five weeks, Nancy relied on Hospice staff and volunteers to bolster her during this very difficult journey.

After Dick’s death, Nancy wrote the guidebook for caregivers that she wished she had had at hand.

In “A Wave in the Ocean”, she reflects on her experience and offers both practical advice and spiritual insight. Nancy has generously made “A Wave in the Ocean” available to the Hospice and Home Care Foundation and funds from its sale are establishing the Richard Shaull Education Fund. The Fund will be used to make important information, such as “A Wave in the Ocean,” available free of charge to hospice patients and their families.
