Eligibility Requirements
Medicare requires that patients receiving home health services:
  • have a medical condition that requires skilled services, and
  • be homebound.

A “home” may be a house, an apartment, a relative’s home or an assisted living facility. However, a hospital or a skilled nursing facility is not considered a home.

Medicare covers skilled services on an intermittent or part-time basis. The nurse or therapist generally visits the patient up to a few times per week. Visits are generally for an hour or less.

Most insurances follow the Medicare guidelines. We can help determine your insurance company's requirements.

Most insurance companies do not require Maternal Child patients to be homebound.
